At the beginning of 2006 I decided that the time was right to tear myself away from a boring but comfortable existence working for a multi-national organisation. After much deliberation and soul searching, I plumped for a Cleaning Doctor franchise.
I was left with a real sense of the passion
Now the problem was to convince William Little (the Founder and Franchisor of the Cleaning Doctor Network) that I could operate one of his franchises profitably and protect and market his good name into the bargain. This proved more difficult than I had imagined. First, there was the language barrier. After my first telephone conversation with ”Willie”, My wee head was in a spin. I hadn’t understood all that was said to me. ( I would later on as all Willie's franchisees do come to realise the wisdom of his words) I was, however, left with a real sense of the passion that runs through him for this business.
I need not have worried
Not that long later, I had signed on the dotted line, bought a van, completed my training and was on the ferry home (to Scotland) wondering what lay in store ahead. I need not have worried. Business came my way from the outset and my phone has been “rocking” since.
The back up from head office is also without equal
During my first year I met a number of the existing franchisees. They are all, without exception, sound as a pound, helpful and very eager and willing to help with any question you may have or to offer advice/ encouragement to put your mind at ease. The back up from head office is also without equal – just wish Kathy (at Cleaning Doctor head office) wasn’t so efficient where invoices for goods/stock are concerned!
There is a great team behind you
In closing, although it is a well used cliché, this really was the best decision I have ever made. Working for yourself gives you great flexibility and autonomy, with the added value of knowing that there is a great team behind you. The difference here is that they are supportive – no chasing figures or targets.
Most pressures have simply gone
My life has been turned around, very much for the better. My work-life balance is now much improved and I am in control. Most pressures have simply gone and all my friends say I am a different person – much more relaxed.
