I could see the potential of the business and could see the opportunities where I live.

I was busy from the start

The training was very interesting and explained everything in detail. It was a lot to take in but once I started doing the job it all made perfect sense. In preparation for the launch of the business I placed adverts in local pages and in the telephone directory, and distributed 20,000 brochures. I had the option of using the Cleaning Doctor Roadshow, but I was busy from the start and didn’t need it.

The training is also ongoing

I was nervous when I did my first job but with the top of the range equipment it is very easy. Plus you have the ongoing support of Cleaning Doctor. The training is also ongoing, last year I attended four courses, which I found very useful and which gave me the opportunity to meet the other franchisees. There is also an expert on hand to explain new developments in the industry.

Within a year and a half the business had turned over €92,000. This year I’m aiming to get even more domestic customers and to secure more maintenance contracts with hotels. I’m also hoping to employ a member of staff before the end of the year.

"This really was the best decision I have ever made."

At the beginning of 2006 I decided that the time was right to tear myself away from the comfortable - boring – existence of working for a multi national organisation. I had decisions to make with regard to what I should invest my hard earned money in. After much deliberation and soul searching, I plumped for Cleaning Doctor.

I was left with a real sense of the passion

Now the problem was to convince William Little that I could operate one of his franchises profitably and protect and market his good name into the bargain. This proved more difficult than I had imagined. First, there was the language barrier. After my first telephone conversation with ”Willie”, My wee head was in a spin. I hadn’t understood all that was said to me. ( I would later on as all Willie's franchisees do come to realise the wisdom of his words) I was, however, left with a real sense of the passion that runs through him for this business.

I need not have worried

Not that long later, I had signed on the dotted line, bought a van, completed my training and was on the ferry home wondering what lay in store ahead. I need not have worried. Business came my way from the outset and my phone has been “rocking” since.

The back up from head office is also without equal

I am just under a year down the line now and have met a number of the existing franchisees. They are all, without exception, sound as a pound. Helpful and very eager and willing to help with any question you may have or to offer advice/ encouragement to put your mind at ease. The back up from head office is also without equal – just wish Kathy wasn’t so efficient where invoices for goods/stock are concerned!

There is a great team behind you

In closing, although it is a well used cliché, this really was the best decision I have ever made. Working for yourself gives you great flexibility and autonomy, with the added value of knowing that there is a great team behind you. The difference here is that they are supportive – no chasing figures or targets.

Most pressures have simply gone

My life has been turned around very much for the better. Work life balance is now much better and something I am in control of. Most pressures have simply gone and all my friends say I am a different person – much more relaxed etc. I can only thank Willie for this opportunity and say that there is no other franchise that I feel can come close to the “family” built by Mr William Little.
